I Made It- The Staple Dress

Woo hoo! I actually made something for me and it was awesome! I am already planning several more variations with fabrics from my stash. I really love this pattern, so simple, and it sews up in about 3 hours start to finish. I made this version to wear to some friends' wedding a few weeks back. It was an outdoor soiree right up against the east side of the Sierras. Cowboy boots were encouraged which is good because I love any occasion to wear boots. :) IMG_2446

The Staple Dress is a great pattern and I now understand the name. It is definitely going to be a new wardrobe staple for me. Especially the straight hem version. I'd wear these every day of the week if I could!

I made this version out of Kaffe Fassett Shot Cotton fabric in the Blue Jeans color. I just love the way these fabrics have different warp and weft colors that give the fabric an almost iridescent look up close. So simple but still fun.

I should mention that this is one of the first few garment projects I've done without my mom's help, so I am pretty proud of what I've accomplished. I'm learning, little by little, and it's so much fun!

So, now I'm off to make another. Stay tuned for more sewing goodness!
