Catch up time: The Sierra Sunset Cowl

I've been a busy bee lately! Well, you probably knew that otherwise I would have been posting here more. :) In the last month, I've released two new patterns in my new roll as In-house Designer at Jimmy Beans Wool! I still have to pinch myself when I go to work each day. Seriously, I feel so lucky! The first design I released was called the Sierra Sunset Cowl. It is knit in Mountain Silk DK yarn and is incredibly lofty and light! It's the perfect yarn for spring because it's not too heavy and the colors are perfect for the season. The cowl features short rows, lots of garter stitch, a shell lace border, and buttons in the back for a fun little twist! I named it after the gorgeous sunsets that we have here in Reno on a regular basis. Oh, how I love the high desert!

Here is all of the info for the cowl:

Specifications (we've listed the specs here, but the full pattern is available above)

  • 16 sts and 27 rows = 4" in garter stitch after blocking on US size 8 needles

*Designer's note: Take time to save time, please check your gauge! I used almost all of my one skein of this yarn for the cowl, so after knitting your gauge swatch, you may need to reuse that yarn to be able to finish the project. If you know you tend to use more yarn than a project calls for, I recommend purchasing an extra skein and returning it if you don't need it. Better safe than sorry.

Finished Size

  • 27" wingspan X 14" center height after blocking

I'll be back on Monday with a feature on my newest pattern and to announce the winner of the giveaway. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and happy knitting!
